Let’s be honest, I’m keen on detail. Obsessive perhaps. I think that’s why I initially became a graphic designer, spending too much time caring about typography. These days I’m a director. Still keen on detail. Obsessive perhaps. Films, TV, animation, everything receives the same treatment. Everything is about how you design it to be. I’m not a born gambler.

I’ve directed a whole bunch of TV commercials as well as some documentary shorts for BBC3 and E4 and spend a good deal of time directing educational content for BBC Bitesize. This is a lot of fun - puppets, animation, mash ups, music videos, and low-fi sci-fi - all done with the same attention to detail, on which, as you know, I am keen.

I wrote and directed my first short film, Back in Five, a fifteen-minute dark comedy, infused with a bit of existentialist dread. It even managed to win Best Screenplay at Cinalfama, and Best Northern Irish Film at the British Short Film Awards. I followed that up with a sci-fi retelling of Homer’s Odyssey, set in an elevator in an underground city, filmed entirely using virtual production - The Flight of Ulick Underhill. It’s not as complicated as it sounds.

I try to work with good people, create great content and worry less about typography.
